Let's talk about Waterloo University:

PROS:

  • Lots of support for first years in any faculty.

  • If you don’t like your program it's easy to switch out and into another one.

  • Dedicated buildings for all faculties so going from class to class is easy and quick.

  • Many extracurriculars for students, there is something for everyone.

  • Co-op program is well known.

CONS:

  • Buildings including residence is old, however renovations are being done to address this.

A bit more about the program:

PROS:

  • Many electives to choose from, it allows students to try new courses and encourages learning new things.

  • Program advisors are very helpful, and are able to put in a plan for you to succeed.

  • Ensures that you gain comprehensive understanding in biology, chemistry and physics.

  • Many program required courses can be counted towards many minors.

CONS:

  • Students are competitive, the culture is very cutthroat and your peers may not be as helpful as you’d like them to be.

  • Failing a course is not as forgiving as other majors and it's very detrimental to your ability to stay in the program.

Words of advice!

The transition to university is one of the most memorable experiences in your academic career. Do something you find interest in!
